  • Kwata Essimu is an Airtel campaign that aims to avail customers the opportunity to own a smartphone through device financing. 
  • Customers who use the Kwata Essimu service will be able to pay for the device(s) overtime and own selected brands and models of brands such as TECNO, Samsung, Nokia, Infinix or Itel depending on the models available by the vendor at the time of purchase.
  • Offer is on selected devices provided by the partner at the time of purchase
  • Selected models are defined by Airtel’s Kwata Essimu partner and change from time to time.
  •  Customer is required to deposit an initial payment, thereafter, start making daily, weekly and monthly installments.
  • The initial installment fee may vary from model to model but is most commonly 30% of the device price.
  • One must have a valid National ID
  • One must have the initial deposit

  • M-KOPA gives flexible daily payments for the everyday earner, making it easier to own devices and unlock progress.

  • Smartphones: Offering smartphones on a payment plan, making them accessible to low-income individuals who can’t afford the upfront cost.

How M-KOPA Works:

  • Choose your product: Select from solar power kits, smartphones, or appliances.
  • Pay as you go financing: Make regular payments (daily, weekly, or monthly) via mobile money.
  • Payments until total price is covered: Continue payments until the full cost of the product is paid off.
  • Lease-to-own: This is a lease-to-own arrangement, meaning you don’t own the product outright until all payments are completed.
  • 100% ownership after final payment: Once the last payment is made, you gain full ownership of the product.
  • Registration: Sign up for the service by calling their helpline or visiting retail locations where M-KOPA products are sold.
  • Basic Information: You’ll need to provide basic personal details, including your National ID and proof of income/mobile money details.
